Gain hands-on experience using Microsoft Project application software in the key roles of project management planning, control and execution.
What you’ll be able to do — competencies
- Create and set up Microsoft Project: project titles, start dates, calendars, working times and scheduling mode
- Enter and link tasks, including time constraints and deadlines
- Create schedules, including formatting Gantt Charts
- Define resources and assign to tasks, leveling as necessary
- Baseline schedules, track project progress and generate reports
- Customize Microsoft Project, including fields, views, ribbons, filters, reports and templates
- Create resource pools and consolidated project schedules
Course description
Gain hands-on experience using the Microsoft Project application software in the key roles of planning, control and execution. Course topics include setting up projects; entering tasks and resources; linking tasks; setting up and assigning resources; saving a baseline; addressing constraints and deadlines; changing task types; sorting, grouping and filtering; and reporting status.
Note: Microsoft Project runs on Windows and is not Mac OS compatible.
Prerequisites
- Prior to taking this course, students must complete Principles of Project Management and Project Planning and Scheduling
- Students need to be able to work in a Windows 10 environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is recommended
