Course description
In this Capstone course, apply and synthesize the skills, knowledge and techniques learned in previous project management courses. Work with a team on an actual project and receive valuable feedback from the group and the instructor. Class requires in-class work as well as 6–10 hours of work outside of class each week.
Prerequisites
- This course may be taken only after the other required Project Management certificate core courses are completed.
Syllabus
Week Zero – Project Kickoff
- Meet the Client
- Decide on a name for your project team
- Design a logo for your team
- Plan a team building exercise
- Submit the name and logo to the sponsor for approval.
- Decide on immediate next steps–get organized
Weeks One through Nine
- Round-Robin Course evaluations facilitated by the instructor
Week Three
- Initiation Phase Status Review (efforts expended to date – include a detailed schedule (go-forward plan) for the planning phase)
Week Six
- Planning Phase Status Review (efforts expended to date – include a detailed schedule (go-forward plan) for the end of class presentation and celebration.)
Week Ten
- Final Presentation to customer and Sponsor
Note: The schedule may be negotiated with the customer and sponsor, except for Week Zero and Ten.
*The date for the final presentation sometimes deviates from the scheduled class date depending on customer availability and convenience.
