Instructor:
Joe Mayes has more than 30 years of IT and cybersecurity experience, both as an engineer and an instructor. He has created courses for the US Federal government, as a tenured faculty member at the college level, and as a professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Joe Has been a certified Cisco instructor since 1998, and a Cisco Learning Partner instructor since 2008. Joe has also been a certified Microsoft MCSE and MCT. Joe has served in various IT and cybersecurity positions as a Command Sergeant Major in both IT and cybersecurity leadership positions, as a consultant for IT and cybersecurity for multiple electrical utilities, and as a cybersecurity researcher for the Software Engineering Institute at CMU, working on classified and unclassified projects for the US Department of Defense and DHS, and on projects for foreign governments. Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University in communication technologies, and a Master’s degree in media from the University of Washington. He holds multiple Cisco certifications, and a CISSP.
