  • Determine an effective test approach for the application under development by using all available resources including specifications and working code (C#) 
  • Demonstrate ability to create a software test environment 
  • Define and execute two test passes by utilizing the skills acquired from the curriculum 
  • Identify and report issues and bugs found during test execution 
  • Present final evaluation and project documentation to instructor 

Course description

The final course in the Software Test Engineer (STE) Certificate requires students to utilize the skills gained throughout the program. The project will be the foundational component of the student’s professional portfolio. Students are expected to create a test plan and execute test cases, file and regress bugs, develop test automation, provide reports on test results and make a final evaluation of the application.

Session 1 

Kick-off 

  • Distribution of project materials 
  • Establish working rules and deadlines 
  • Review schedule and deliverables 
  • Discuss issues and challenges 

Session 1 Assignments 

  • Read all materials 
  • Define a test approach 
  • Begin writing test design spec (TDS) 
  • Build test system 
  • Begin initial test pass 

Session 2 

First Checkpoint 

  • Review progress on TDS and test approach 
  • Review progress on initial test pass 
  • Review progress on test system set-up 
  • Review progress on testware 
  • Discuss next set of deliverables 

Session 2 Assignments 

  • Finalize test approach 
  • Complete the TDS 
  • Complete test pass #1 
  • Report bugs and status 

Session 3 

Second Checkpoint 

  • Review completed TDS 
  • Review findings from test pass #1 
  • Review issues with test system 
  • Review progress and usage of testware 
  • Discuss next set of deliverables
